As I have mentioned in previous posts, Ethan has been pretty sick this winter. He catches one thing after another at daycare. Last week was particularly rough and on our third visit to see his pediatrician in less than a week, Dr. Banner told us to head straight to the ER. Basically, Ethan was weezing a lot and breathing fast. At the hospital, a number of doctors looked at Ethan. One doctor called him a "happy weezer" since he was still pretty energetic despite his illness. We stayed overnight. The room was for two babies. The other baby, Kyree, was born about the same time as Ethan but was only at 26 weeks gestation and weighed only 1 lb at birth. That just shows how lucky we were that Ethan was born on time and at a good weight. The crib had metal bars and Ethan kept hitting his head on them, so he snuggled up with me on this little chair/cot and Steve slept on the floor. They monitored him every two hours. They gave him prednisone, a steroid, to help control the inflammation in Ethan's lungs. That seems to be helping and Ethan is getting better gradually each day. We were in the hospital about 24 hours and were released before the massive snow storm hit. We are going to try to keep Ethan home this week by juggling our schedules. If anyone wants to come babysit, now would be a good time!
Other news- Last week, Steve got his "CFII" rating. That stands for: certified flight instrument instructor. This coming weekend, Steve has been hired to fly a father and son down to their condo in Daytona Beach, Florida. He will be instructing them on the way. They plan to take a day trip to Miami while they are there. That will be a nice vacation for Steve! I told him, at the very least, he will have three straight nights of uninterrupted sleep!!!
