E's 1st T-ball game

Yesterday E had his very first T-ball game!!! He did a great job both fielding/throwing to 1st and also batting. His team is called the "Red Rockets"- ages 3-5 (with just a couple who are 2- E is the littlest one on the team by at least 6 inches). E eventually got the concept of running to first base (after initially running into the outfield). The game was 3 innings long. In the middle of the third inning, E walked off the field and said, "I want to go to the playground" (a wish that was eventually granted). But he managed to get back into the game and finish it out. V was very good throughout and just sat in the stroller watching her big brother and occasionally sucking on her toes.

While I am blogging about athletics, it is important to announce that V took her first two unaided steps in the doctors office on 5/21!!! She is cruising quite a bit now and is eager to walk on her own, but still is very wobbly. If we hold onto both of her hands she practically runs across the room. She can also move very fast with this walker device that babybat loaned her. V can even walk with us if we hold one of her hands.

Happy Mother's Day!

To all of the wonderful mothers in our lives!

Happy Mother's Day everyone! What to say- so much time has passed since the last post! I don't even know where to begin! Maybe I will just give a quick update on everyone:

E- His mind has been developing so much these past few months! E loves to sing and say different rhymes he has learned at school. At dinner time, he can say our prayer with us too. He's really sweet to his sister most of the time. He likes to "pretend" to read us stories. Now that the weather is nice we have been going for walks outside in the evening- E likes to ride his tricycle and collect rocks. It is really great to be able to know what he is thinking these days as he learns to say more and more. He even knows how to say when he doesn't know the words for that yet.

V- Is crawling well now, with her belly off the ground and she loves to stand. Sometimes she stands while not holding onto anything for 5 seconds at a time and it takes our breath away. She can clap and wave now too! On May 4th her first tooth finally made an appearance (upper right)- she is dealing with it pretty well. She continues to be a really good eater- we frequently cut up our dinner for her and she eats it while swinging her legs and singing "Num num num num". She's a happy gal- it is amazing how that part of her personality has remained unchanged since the day she was born.

We never guessed that disputes over toys would arise this early, but they have. V always makes a bee line to E and tries to grab whatever he is playing with or organizing into a "parking lot". Also, sometimes E just HAS to have the thing that V is playing with. When either one takes a toy from the other, the resulting tears are as if someone has just lost a limb.

ZDad is doing well and may have more info on when grad school will be done once and for all soon. He is getting lots of good data- so fingers are crossed!!!! Z Dad has been cooking some really nice meals for the 4Z's lately which we should put on the family health blog. He has not been flying as much but is still going on outings with a couple of his flying buddies from time to time. They are flying to some really short runway this weekend right in the middle of a golf course- should be fun, but he could have spared me the details about the short runway!

ZMom is good. Have been in somewhat of a trumpet slump, but ZDad has suggested I learn piano and I am having a TON of fun with it!!!! He picked out the perfect, easy Bach song for me. So I play piano for a few minutes each morning, which is challenging and then have a quick freeform on trumpet which feels liberating after struggling with the piano. Work is stressful, but I still love the people I work with and generally enjoy it with all of it's ups and downs.

Most importantly for both of us, we are incredibly grateful for our two little ones and for each other- we are incredibly blessed and are savoring every moment!
